is Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Comparative Politics Journal, Director of the Center of Regional Projects and Comprehensive Chinese Studies at the MGIMO University, and Member of the Public Council of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East. He holds a PhD in Government Studies/Political Science from the University of Manchester, and a PhD in Asian History from the Institute of Far Eastern Studies (Moscow). He is the former Dean of the School of Political Science at MGIMO University. Before joining MGIMO University, he served as a Director of Methodological University (Moscow Public Science Foundation) and as Deputy Director of the Institute of Far Eastern Studies. He is the author, co-author, and editor of fifty books, has given lectures in many countries all over the world and has appeared on major Russian and international TV and radio shows. At the Center for Global Politics, he lectures Modules for German Studies Russia.
